Indianapolis — A new portable Sonofilm sound equipment that can be operated with current originating solely from one alternating current light socket, using standard film, has been placed on the market by the Sono Equipment Corp. The new "junior" equipment is packed in three suitcases for convenient transportation, with a total weight of 180 pounds. It is equipped with a standard theater sound head, and has 80 per cent replacement on parts at any supply house, the company claims. A complete compact sound-on-film equipment for theaters is also marketed by the company. Electric Golf Links Gets Sideline Money An electric golf game manufactured by Peter Clark, Inc., of New York and known as Electrolinks, is being utilized for side profits by many theaters. The game is installed either in the theater lobby or in store space next to the house. Requiring a space of 19 feet x 12 feet, customers playing the game can swing with all their might and then see just exactly what distance they would get from such a drive at the golf club, each drive as well as hole putts being automatically registered on a pictured wall chart. Requiring from two to three hours to erect, the outfit is furnished complete with clubs, balls, scorecards, etc., the company claims. Humidity Recorder Foxboro, Mass. — A relative humidity recorder of the membrane type, designed for recording humidity at temperature up to 120° F. and for use in connection with any air conditioning system, is being marketed by the Foxboro Co. The company also manufacturers a complete line of indicating, controlling and recording instruments. Springfield, Mass. — ■ Contract for the erection of a theater here by Samuel and Nathan Goldstein, former owners of the Goldstein Brothers circuit of theaters, has been awarded to George H. Reed & Co. of Greenfield, Mass. Completion is expected by August 15. Frankfort, Ind. — A theater is to be erected here by Valos and Gregory at an estimated cost of $100,000. New Britain, Conn. — H. E. Eriwin is reported planning to build a theater here at an estimated cost of $75,000. Strong, Kan. — About $75,000 is to be the cost of a theater planned here by Charles Lancaster and Paul Gish. Abbeville, La. — Erection of a building to house Frank's theater here is under consideration. Franklin, N. H. — Samuel Kurson will erect a theater here at an estimated cost of $75,000. Columbia, S. C. — Paramount Publix will erect a theater here at an estimated cost of $600,000. Pullman, Wash. — A theater is to be erected here at a cost of about $30,000 by Martin. Lycan and Jenp.er. Halletsville, Tex. — Approximately $25,000 is to be spent on a theater here by P. M. Brown. Everly, la. — The sum of $11,000 has been appropriated for a city hall and theater to include sound equipment. Yersailes, Mo. — Contract for the erection of a theater to be constructed here by Thomas Ghosen, of Eldon, Mo., has been awarded to J. P. Ephland of this city. Opens Western Office Los Angeles — Arcturus Radio Tube Co. of Newark, N. J., manufacturers of radio tubes and photoelectric cells, announces the opening of its Western Division office at 1855 Industrial St. here. L. P. Naylor is in charge. Nat'l Opens Pittsburgh Office Pittsburgh — National Theater SupCo lias opened its new and up-todate quarto at 1721 Boulevard of the Allies here. RESTORATION OF FILM CLAIMEDBY NEWMETHODS Cleveland — A method of cleaning and rejuvenating used films so that the original quality of the sound track is retained, is said to have been perfected by Fred Mast, president of Rex Film Cleaner. Under the system, which incorporates the use of Waxolene, all-surface dirt and oils accruing from use are removed without injuring the film, it is said. A blotting system replacea rubbing system for absorbing surplus oils. In addition the film is subjected to treatment which restores those elements in it that are destroyed by the strong lights to which it is subjected in its passage through a projection machine. New Equipment Firm Trenton, N. J. — A new equipment firm, known as C. M. Vanderbilt, Inc. has been incorporated to carry on a general theater equipment business. ALTERATIONS Philadelphia ■ — ■ Plans have been completed for alterations and rearrangement of the interior of the Family. Great Barrington, Mass. — Approximately $80,000 is being expended on extensive changes and improvements at the Mahaiwe. Interstate Theater Corp. are the new owners. Sioux City, la. — Extensive alterations and improvements are to be made on the theater owned by A. Sanford. Shawnee, Kan. — The sum of $5,000 has been appropriated for improvements at the Mission by M. A. Summer. Lynchburg, \'a. — Alterations and general improvements will be made at the Trenton by Warner Bros, at an estimated cost" of $50,000. Victoria, Tex. — Jefferson Amusement Co. will spend $15,000 for improving the Princess here.
