O., that projectionists working for the six major circuits rebate part of their salaries, Local 306 has voted to have such a rebate apply to all theaters. The operators will be paid their full salaries, but will hand back the money representing the rebate. Approximately 1,800 operators and between 400" and 500 theaters are affected under the plan. The operator-,' contract with theaters runs until August, 1932. Decision was rendered in a case whereby Columbia and Educational sued S. & E. Amusement Corp., operating the Star in the Bronx, for damages in connection with unplayed pictures. The former company was given an award of $660 for three features and 26 shorts. Educational's award amounted to $560 and covered 32 shorts. Churches Denied Petition Against Sunday Movies (Continued from Page 1) pointed out that the council was a legislative body and not a court and that there was no city ordinance prohibiting Sunday shows. Four theaters have been operating on Sundays for the past several weeks. Ochs Circuit Promotions Millard Ochs has been appointed assistant to the general manager of the Lee Ochs Theaters. He formerly managed the Uptown, an Ochs house. Martin Messinger, formerly manager of the Costello of the same circuit, succeeds him at the Uptown.
