HOLLYWOOD JhRED SPENCER, who was graduated from Yale, is assisting George Cukor at RKO. Spencer assisted Cukor at the Paramount Long Island studio and came west with Cukor. Spencer has had many offers to act, but prefers to remain in his present job.

Armand Schaefer, youthful director, who was slated to direct Noah Berry, Jr., in a western, has been assigned to direct Tom Mix's next picture. Schaefer has directed several features and serials.

Neoma Judge, pretty young Minnesota swimming champion with no previous screen experience, will play the lead opposite Rex Bell in "The Man from Arizona," for Monogram. Miss Judge was chosen for the leading role by Harry Fraser, Monogram director, who is credited with introducing Marion Burns to the
screen.

Excellent reports filter in on "Renegades of the West," which Casey Robinson directed for RKO. The picture stars Tom Keene. Robinson was with Paramount and Warner Bros, before joining RKO.

Lester Cohen, author of "Sweepings," a saga of fatherhood, is writing the script for RKO Radio's production which will star Lionel Bar
rymore.

William A. Wellman will direct the next Ruth Chatterton-George Brent picture, "Common Ground,"
for First National.

Bernard Schubert and Owen Francis are authoring the atmospheric side of RKO Radio's "Man and Wife." Wanda Tuchock, whose option has been renewed by RKO, is handling the romantic phase. Irene Dunne is starred, with Charles Bickford as the male lead.
Adding Library Vaults
West Coast Bur., THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — General Film Library is constructing seven vaults, each with a capacity of 2,000,000 feet of film. The vaults are to be used in storing the combined, Dawes, Kinogram and Selznick libraries which were recently purchased by General. Silney Kandel is in charge of the office here.
A major studio is understood tr be negotiating for the services of Graham John, prominent English author-scenarist, who recently completed the screen version and dialogue for "The Monkey's Paw,"
