POSITION WANTED Supervising Projectionist Non Union Theatre Maintenance & Construction A Good Assistant to a District Manager Box No. 925 The Film Daily 1650 Broadway New York City Allied-MPTOA Plan 3 Exhib. Mass Meetings (Continued from Page 1) threaten passage of a Federal regulation bill and drafting of a new standard exhibition contract. Allied leaders are expected to find no difficulty in delivering their units to support the proposed assault on distributor policies. According to reports reaching New York President M. A. Lightman's M. P. T. O. A. units are showing a strong inclination to rely upon his judgment in cooperating with Allied. A leading unit affiliated with the national organization, the M. P. T. O. of Eastern Pennsylvania, has enthusiastically endorsed the program. Upstate Exhib. Unit Joining M. P. T. O. A. (Continued from Page 1) contract disputes and controversies. A considerable number of local disputes within the industry have been disposed of by voluntary arbitration in this territory during the past year through the good offices of the Local Exhibitors' Association. They also favor local negotiation between the interested parties to eliminate protection abuses and to limit protection within bounds that can be agreed upon by the parties in interest as fair and reasonable. They do not favor bringing in a political bureau or commission with arbitrary authority to interfere with the business operation of the industry. They feel that such a move quite likely would result in more chaotic and distressing conditions than have ever prevailed in the Motion Picture Industry and point to the unsuccessful and blundering efforts of federal bureaus to regulate and manage other industries, as a horrible example of what would happen if this were actually brought about. Michael suggests that perhaps the hullabaloo over federal regulation has confused many exhibitors and obscured the main efforts to bring about organized self control within the industry that are being made by the M. P. T. O. A. The Buffalo organization has always urged organized self-control within the industry.
