Blumental Linked With F. P. Negotiations A. C. Blumcnthal is understood to be identified with N. L. Nathanson's negotiations for taking over of Famous Players Canadian circuit. Deal is reported to be still far from closing. Paramount seems reluctant to dispose of this property as in past years the circuit has been one of the two biggest money-making divisions in Publix. Nathanson is in Florida at his winter home. Chain Gang Wardens Sue Warners ior $2,000,000 Atlanta — Charging that the film, "I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang," is an unjust and unfair attack on their prison camps, Warden J. Harold Haroy of Troup County and Warden ".Paul Phillips of Campbell County have filed suit in city court here against Warners asking $1,000,000 each. Trial of the case may be at the March term, at which time Warners will be required to produce a copy of the film, a schedule of profits therefrom, a list of the theaters where the picture was shown in Georg.a and other States, copies of all advertising and exploitation and any contracts between Burns and the producers or his publishers and the producers permitting picturization of the book and all correspondence relating to suggestions in producing the film. CURRAN-MOYNIHAN ON STORY Charles Curran of Warner Bros, and John Moynihan. formerly of RKO, are collaborating on an original story, tentatively titled "The Sunshine Kid," for a major studio. Curran clicked recently with "AdMan," which is now being prepared by Fox for Spencer Tracy. BUDDY FISHER IN EAST Buddy Fisher, film and vaudeville actor arrived in New York yesterday from the coast for a stay of about three weeks, during which he expects to fill some radio and personal appearance dates. He will then return to Hollywood. "FAREWELL TO ARMS" JAN. 13 Paramount's "Farewell to Arms," which has just closed a two-a-day run at the Criterion, will have its popular price showing at the New York and Brooklyn Paramount theaters starting Jan. 13. He succeeds A. W. Sobler, who resigned to enter exhibition. BARRY CONNERS DIES West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — Barry C o n n e r s , writer on the Fox staff, died yesterday morning. Before coming west, Conners had achieved popularity as a Broadway playwright. WARNER FILM FOR CAPITOL A. W. Smith of Warners yesterday closed a deal for the showing of "Employees' Entrance" at the Capitol the week of Jan. 20. The picture, which has Warren William, Loretta Young, Wallace Ford and Alice White in its cast, also will play Loew's Metropolitan, Brooklyn, the same week.
