Murray Calls Films Essential Though he has recommended a state tax on cigarettes, soft drinks, ice cream and other articles. Governor "Alfalfa Bill" Murray of Oklahoma is against a levy on movie admissions. People must have amusement, especially in times of stress, declared Governor Murray in a recent statement. He urged more attendance at theaters as one of the best ways of maintaining morale. AL ROCKETT TO HANDLE FOX PRODUCTION UNIT West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — Al Rockett, who has been associate producer for Fox, will supervise a production unit during 1933-34, it was stated yesterday by Sidney R. Lasky has resigned. He recently suffered a nervous collapse, following a long siege of influenza, and is now en route to New York. Krimsky and Cochran Plan Producing Firm John Krimsky and Gifford Cochran, who brought over "Maedchen in Uniform," plan to form a producing organization. Krimsky is president of Playchoice, New York theater organization which picks out new plays and subscribes to blocks of tickets for them. Cochran, the wealthy son of Gifford Cochran, multi-millionaire, is now in Berlin consulting with directors and technical men. Upon his return a national company will be approached regarding distribution. March 1 Set by Paramount As Date for New Contract Paramount Wins Point Over $13,000,000 Loan Two opinions in favor of Paramount were handed down yesterday by Justice Aaron J. Levy in the case brought by Mrs. Maurice (ioodman in connection with the transaction under which Paramount obtained loans of more than $13,000,000 from a group of banks.
