DR. ROCKWELL FOR SHORTS
Dr. Rockwell, now playing RKO houses, has been signed to make three Vitaphone shorts when the Brooklyn studio reopens in March. Negotiations for Rockwell were handled by Joe Rivkin of the Leo Morrison office.
Regent Pictures Enters Independent Film Field
Regent Pictures, Inc., entered the independent field yesterday with plans for 12 features and 52 shorts. Headquarters have been established at 1540 Broadway. Contracts are being signed with two feature units for product, according to Harry N. Blair, vice-president, and negotiations are under way with independent distributors.
Irving A. Jacoby to Give City College Film Course
A course on the Art of the Motion Picture will be given at the spring term of the College of the City of New York by Irving A. Jacoby, A. B., formerly of Warners and now associated with B. K. Blake. Sessions will be on Wednesday evenngs for a term of 16 weeks at a fee of $10. The course is intended for members of the industry who seek the proper perspective of films, as well as for moviegoers and students of the screen. Each of the 16 lectures will be devoted to a thorough analysis of one phase of the motion picture. Important films of the past will be shown and field work will be done in the contemporary motion picture.
Tony Williams Appointed Warner District Manager
Newark, N. J. — Tony Williams, for the last two years manager of the De Witt, Bayonne, has been promoted to Hudson County district manager for Warner Theaters. The circuit has eight houses in that county. Williams will have his main office here. He has been with Warnes for five years.
Ted Lewis Show Booked By F. & M. in RKO Roxy
Ted Lewis' stage unit has been booked by Fanchon & Marco into the RKO Roxy for the week of Jan. 27. F. & M.'s "Desert Song" plays the Brooklyn Paramount next month, followed by other musicals, and "Follow Thru" will soon play Loew de luxers in this territory.

"Shadoplay," new 10-cent fan magazine, announced by Photoplay Publishing Co., makes its bow Feb. 20. It will have 80 pages. Kathryn Dougherty, publisher of "Photoplay," will be publisher of the new magazine; J. S. Tuomey, business manager; William R. Rosengren, assistant business manager; William T.
