—2&»% DAILV Monday, June 12, 1933 DUFFERS TO PLAY BIRDIES AT THE GOLF T Just to make the Film Golf Tournament more complicated, Lee Ochs has organized the Duffers like himself who are members of the Motion Picture Club. None of 'em ever broke 100 in a golf game in their lives. Which gives you a slight idea. At least they are honest. They haven't tried to kid their golf pals, or mark up their score cards. The plan is for the Duffers to challenge the Birdies at the Tournament at Rye Country Club on June 20. Of course you know the Birdies ? Oh, you must meet 'em by all means. They are the Thursday Afternoon Tea Boys who play the metropolitan courses while us poor suckers are sweating over our jobs. A very Exclusive and Swanky Bunch, these Birdies. For a long time they have been bringing back to the Empey Club tall tales of their prowess at Golf. Nobody has had a chance to check their yarns. For the simple reason that they are so Exclusive when they go to play on Thursday afternoons no outsiders ever get a chance to lamp their work on the greens and fairways. So Mister Ochs has doped it out that the Birdies are just a lotta Bologna. He is willing to back his judgment by sending his Duffers up against 'em. So it should be an interesting match, in addition to the scheduled tournament match between the Ampas and the Empeys. The list of entrants is piling in. To date it reads: Jack Alicoate Jack Cohn Charlie Alicoate James Cron Winfield Andrus Jimmy Cunningham Maurey Asher Ted Curtis Paul Benjamin George Dembow Chris Beute Ed Edelson C. R. Black, Jr. Charles Einfeld George Blair Ben Erdman Louis F. Blumenthal Tom Evans Richard Brady Simon H. Fabian Joe Brandt Herb Fecke Lou Brecher John Flynn George Brown Ed Fourcher Harry Buckley W. B. Frank Use Year Book for School Study Faculty ot Harren High School, New York, has adopted the current year book of Columbia Pictures as a text book for students of advertising, with especial reference to illustration and lettering. S. M. Cohen, faculty advertising director of the school, wrote Columbia in making known this decision that "the illustrations and lettering are fine examples of motion picture advertising and a very needy book for advertising students."
