Lincoln, Neb. — It is understood hat the Sun, sole remaining dual )ill spot here, will go single fea;ures about the first of the year. Roxboro, N. C. — Kirby Brothers lave opened the New Palace. Fort Worth — A new record was nade by the Worth Theater, maniged by Frank Weatherford, with 'Flirtation Walk" over Thanksgiv ng. . Boston — William Shapiro, presilent of Franklin Film Exchange, is n England dickering for product to >e handled in this country. Camden, S. C— The Strand is the lame of the new local theater openid by T. L. Little. Roseville, 0. — Mayme Hardy has >pened the Midget Theater. Jeffersonville, Ind. — Harry S. Morris, 63, pioneer showman, died last week. South Bend, Ind. — Hollywood Amusements, Inc., has been formed here by Norman J. Hartzer, Oliver M. Loomis and Belva Price, to operate theaters and amusement enterprises. St. Augustine, Fla. — Plans are under way to reopen the Orpheum. Improvements are being made. New Orleans — "Flirtation Walk" at the Saenger broke that house's record for Sunday attendance. Sarasota, Fla. — Doors of the long closed Sarasota theater, Sparks house, have been opened to workmen and it is planned to have the house ready for use by the first of the year. New Orleans — Ben Piazza of the M-G-M studio was here last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCoy and renewing acquaintances. Mrs. McCoy is Piazza's niece. St. Augustine, Fla. — George Phillips has been appointed assistant manager at the Jefferson theater. Richmond — Charles A. Somma, pioneer exhibitor and showman, aided in the formation of the W. W. Worman Tent, Circus Saints and Sinners of America, just chartered here. Spencer, Ind. — Harley Campbell, 53, who operated a movie house here for about 30 years, died recently. Jasper, Fla. — Fay theater has been reopened and is showing four nights a week. Charles Nelson is manager. St. Louis Squibs St. Louis — Louis Landau, owner of the Maryland Theater, lost three teeth and was otherwise battered in an attack by a ruffian a few days ag0 . „ i. Midcontinent Pictures Corp. has been formed by Elliott W. M. Bennett, Mary Valle Bain, M. C. Shattuck and Robert C. Bennett. Joe Keating, assistant manager of the Lindell, has been promoted to manager of the Congress, succeeding Jack Hoehn, who left the St. Louis Amusement Co. circuit to go in business for himself. Leto Hill, general manager for St. Louis Amusement, is negotiating with Hollywood producers to stage a talent contest here. Joe Laurie Jr. will be master of ceremonies for the first stage show under the new policy at the Ambassador starting tomorrow. Detroit Notes Detroit — The father of E. C. Beatty, general manager of Butterfield Circuit, died recently in Seymour, Ind. Ernest E. Forbes of Theater Equipment Co. has been named Michigan representative for Heywood-Wakefield seats. Eddie Canto, formerly of the Paramount branch, has joined Forbes' staff. Royal Baker, local film censor, is now a radio author, with several numbers from his "Lovely Lady" being given over WXYZ. A new chrome plated modernistic frame developed by Hal Burris, sign man, has been taken over by National Theater Supply. Business at local houses has picked up following initial release of $90,000,000 funds tied up in the closed First National Bank. A LITTLE from "LOTS >// ;By RALPH WILK HOLLYWOOD CTHEL HILL and Bruce Manning are writing the screen play for "Eight Bells," which will be made by Columbia.
