Pioneer Is Recruiting Stock Company Players West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — Merian C. Cooper, executive vice-president of Pioneer, is recruiting a company of stock players for work in 10 Technicolor features to be released during the next two years. The first two of the proposed pictures will be released through RKO and the balance by United Artists. Charles Collins and Steffi Duna, currently making "Dancing Pirate," are already under optional agreement for the permanent playing company, and John Ford has been engaged to direct "The Life of Custer" by the end of the year. Building 3 20th-Fox Exchanges Construction of a new exchange building in Des Moines will begin about May 15, according to 20th Century-Fox reports of new building and modernization work. The Des Moines structure is of one-story design for occupancy by Sept. 30. Work on a new exchange building in Denver is expected about May 1 and remodeling of the Salt Lake City exchange is expected before summer. A new building is also expected in St. John, pending outcome of negotiations for joint sharing with Warner Bros, branches. Ray Conner Back on Job Ray Conner, manager of the Palace, New York, is back on the job after recovering from an appendectomy.
