San Francisco. — The first public showing of "Male and Female," the Cecil De Mille special, adapted from "The Admirable Crichton," by Sir James Barrie, was held at the Imperial here last Sunday. The house record for that day was smashed.

"Tin Pan Alley." the latest starring vehicle for Albert Ray and Elinor Fair, has been completed at Hollyood. The picture was directed by Frank Beal.
Screen Ad Company Wins Suit (Special to WID'S DAILY) Columbus, O.— The Motion Picture Advertising Service Co. has won the suit here which it brought against the Alhambra. The advertising company stated that Stephen Zoph and James E. Stewart, owners of the theater violated the contract which they had made to use pictures supplied by it only.
An Independent Company
The Columbia .Amusement Co. of Erie, Pa., writes to state that its two new theaters which are to be erected in Sharon and Erie will not be Famous Players houses as stated in the issue of Sept. 25. Columbia shows the product of most of the larger companies but says it is not financially connected with Famous.
Levev Completes New Film
Harry Levey, of Universal's Industrial Department, has completed a oicture called "Where East Meets West," a film dealing with the city of Omaha and its show places.
Spence Working Overtime
Ralph Spence, who is responsible for the humorous sub-titles appearine in Tom Mix. George Walsh RayFair_ and other Fox productions, including Sunshine comedies, is now writing the "Fox Newsette" feature of Fox News semi-weekly. This in addition to his regular work.
"Auld Lang Syne," a story of rural Scotland, starring Peggy Hyland, has been completed in Hollywood. J. Anthony Roach is the author and Howard M. Mitchell the director.
Charles J. Brabin, whose latest feature was "Kathleen Mavourneen," has recovered from an operation for appendicitis and will start work soon on a new Fox production.
Robert Cain, well-known heavy, has been signed by Fox to support William Farnum in the feature temporarily titled "Pierre Le Grand."
Roth Going Abroad
Harry Roth, secretary and treasurer of the Forward Film Distributors, Inc., leaves for Europe tomorrow where he will make an extensive trip. His purpose will be to line up foreign unrts for whom he can act as resident buyer here in New York.
Forward Film is a new organization recently chartered in Albany. The company has secured two pictures or foreign distribution, "The Forfeit," with House Peters and "The Unbroken Promise" with Jane Miller. Roth expects to be away for three months.
Ince to Direct O'Brien
Ralph Ince will direct Eugene O'Brien in "His Wife's Money." This will be O'Brien's fourth picture for Selznick.
