Censorship — A presidential decree modifying membership of the Cuban Films Revisory Board was published in the Official Gazette of Sept. 6, 1928. Article 1 of the regulations governing the censorship of films now provides for the inspection of films by the Film Revisory Board, under the jurisdiction of the Dept. of Interior. The decision as to whether a picture may or may not be exhibited is determined by this Board, which consists of the Secretary of Interior, as president, and nine other members. Competition — 95 % American pictures shown. Copyright Relations — Copyright Act 1909 by Presidential Proclamation Nov. 17, 1902. Extended April 9, 1910; Dec. 9, 1920. Production — Little. Sound — Twenty-five installations are reported as being completed to date with five machines in transit and seven unfilled orders. Thirty-seven devices should be in use within a short time. Effective March 1, 1927, under U. S. Copyright Act of 1909 and the Czechoslovakian copyright law of Nov. 24, 1925. Production — 402 films produced during 1928 which included 19 features, 17 industrial, 13 sport, 73 nature and 280 news reels. Taxes — Very high. 20% on tickets up to 6 crowns, 30% on tickets up to 13 crowns and 50% on tickets over 13 crowns. Theaters — 1,200; 100 in Prague. Sound — 15 sound installations in this country, 5 of these are in Prague. Imports from U. S. A. — 1928 — 787,833 ft.; value $19,647. 1929— 1,128,472 ft.; value $24,413. (First 9 Months).
