ings and accessories, and a substantial plant expansion. ROYAL METAL MFG. CO. is again producing Royalchrome furniture for use in theaters, and has named National Theatre Supply Co. the distributor for the line. Although delivery was slow right after the year's outset, more and more Royalchrome is being produced and will soon be sufficient to meet any requirement. Company also makes a complete line of folding chairs and stools for operators, cashiers and ticket takers. A new development in chromium furniture is the Royalchrome all-steel construction. Entire framework of this line is all-steel. In addition to appearance and durability, it allows new and greatly improved methods of upholstering giving trim, graceful lines. BRANDT AUTOMATIC CASHIER CO. stepped up production of its Model 201. With this equipment but one key need be depressed to make change for any amount from one cent to $1. It is equipped with automatic coin lock which is positive proof against errors. It has a delivery chute in which coins roll on edge instead of sliding flat. There are numerous other features. CONCENTRATION by certain States and many communities on the subject of audience safety in him theaters gave understandable impetus to fireproof fabrics, used for such purposes as draperies, and ceiling and wall coverings in all places of public assembly. Those charged with formulating new codes, or radically revising existing ones, showed strong interest in Thortel Fireproof Fabrics, made from inorganic yarns which are themselves fireproof and not just fire re sistent. The fabric field found Goodall, a division of Goodall-Sanford, busily engaged in turning out draperies, Velmo upholsteries, coated fabrics and Seamloc carpets, all of which are used widely in the motion picture industry. The Pantasote Co., manufacturers of coated fabrics and films, offers the trade a wide variety of coated fabrics and unsupported resin films that are highly adapted for use as upholstery and decorative wall coverings in theaters, auditoriums, lobbies and theater lounges. Probably the greatest advances and refinements in coated fabrics made during 1945 have been in the various applications of vinyls and other synthetic resin films. At Pantasote, a new unsupported resin film was produced, differing from conventional "coated fabrics" in that there is no supporting material to which the coating is applied. ✓-vOLUMBUS SHOW CASE CO. resumed production on the E400 line of Extruded Metal frame cases for merchandise vending in theater foyers. Although during war years this line was made with a wood frame, the company announced that after the first of the year production on this type of metal case would again be resumed. The cabinet base is available in oak or prima vera woods and the cases equipped with fluorescent lighting. At first, company officials declared, production will be slow but by summer it is expected that these cases will be coming through the factory in quantities. ANEW TYPE of valve for carbon-dioxide fire extinguishers, known as the Squeez-Grip," was developed by engineers of the C-O-Two Fire Equipment Co. The new valve operates by a lever directly over the carrying handles of the extinguisher. By applying pressure, or squeezing, with onehand, the valve is opened and the gas discharged. On releasing the pressure, the valve closes and the gas discharge is cut off. On closing, the valve is forced tightly against its seat by the tremendous gas pressure in its own cylinder. There are no replacement parts, such as sealing discs, etc., and the valve does not have to be taken apart for recharging and reassembling after filling. W. H. Wheeler, Inc., pushed distribution of Airkem Chlorophyll Air Freshener, a liquid composed of a complex combination of aromatic extracts from plants plus activated chlorophyll. When vaporized into the air either through the instrument of a l5i/2 oz. wick bottle or engineered into a ventilating or air conditioning system by means of the Airkem Evapatrol system, it banishes occupancy odors and gives a fresh air effect. TO HELP SOLVE the problem of loosened theater chairs, Chicago Expansion Bolt Co. is marketing its Supreme Expansion Belt with a Lock Nut instead of an ordinary nut. This Lock Nut will not vibrate loose from the bolt. Company's Expansion Bolt is furnished with the chairs by most seat manufacturers, and is also available via supply dealers. The bolt comes in various sizes. AMERICAN MAT CORP. announced availability of Ezy-Rug rubber link matting so popular for use in theater lobbies and entrances. Organization developed during the war a highly efficient matting for ramps, stairs and landings, under name of Ameritred solid plastic friction matting. Other types of matting which can now be ordered include counter-tred matting, Tuf-Tred tire fabric matting, Amatco wide ribbed corrugated matting, Rub-O Rug cross corrugated matting for carpet protection, stair treds and runners, and Air-Tred sponge rubber matting. MANLEY, INC.. announced its new MLT46 popcorn machine which was put into manufacture following an intensive survey of customers. Latter, answering questionnaires, indicated suggestions for post-war model. Two big features are the Seas-O-Matic seasoning ejector that automatically seasons the popcorn, and there is the new Salt-O-Meter that automatically dispenses the right amount of salt in each popcorn measure.
