Mr. Hays was a very active chairman. Besides the various addresses he deUvered, he served actively with the numerous committees, enlisted personal support of industry leaders in New York and in Hollywood and made unemployment relief a first order of business throughout the Hays organization.
Two points were well established by the success of National Motion Picture Week:
(1) The motion picture theater is close to the heart of the people and they turn to it as to an old friend.
(2) This industry has the quality of leadership, and not only at the top but all along the line, which can work together in unanimity of purpose for a great cause.
Never in the history of the motion picture industry has a more truly voluntary piece of work been carried through.
