Portugal Agitation — Contingent talked about previously has not been heard of for some time. A Commission was appointed on August 8, 1930 to study production of films locally, and protection of same, but to date has reported nothing. Portuguese Government demands a minimum of 100 meters of one Portuguese production in all exhibitions. Censorship — According to Decree No. 13564 of May 6, 1927, all titles must be Portuguese, and no film is permitted to be exhibited without written authorization from the Inspector General of Shows. 996 films censored during 1930 of which 499 were American, 135 French, 81 German, 30 others and 251 Portuguese. Competition — 80% American films shown. Cooyright Relations — Established by Presidential Proclamation July 20, 1893, extended April 9, 1910. Production — One feature sound film "Severa" produced during 1931 (in Klangfilm-Tobis Studios, Paris) and about 250 one-reel films showing Portuguese scenes and events.
