Censorship — According to Decree No. 13564 of May 6, 1927, all titles must be Portuguese and no film is permitted to be exhibited without written authorization from the Inspector General of Shows. 742 films censored in 1931, of which 490 were American. 82 French, 64 German, 17 others and 189 Portuguese.
