More than 41,529,000 dinars were collected by the government from film theaters as taxes during 1926, representing more than half of the 70,000,000 dinars gross receipts of all theaters. The dinar is worth about 1.75 cents American. Taxes are so high that a general closing of all theaters is expected unless immediate action is taken by the government.
