On Their Way to the Front "The Conqueror, " with William Farnum as the star, picturizing the heroic life and times of General Sam Houston, the Liberator of Texas, was photographed in California, Texas and Mexico. Sioux Indians, Texas rangers and U. S. cavalrymen appear in the production. Tom Powers and Rubye De Remer, in a characteristic bit from "The Auction Block," by Rex Beach. Jane Cowl's first photoplay for Goldwyn is ' ' The Spreading Dawn," based on Basil King's Saturday Evening Post story. Aside from looking her customary beautiful self, Miss Cowl does some fine acting. The entire production measures up to the Goldwyn standard of excellence.
