The Filmgoers' Annual 17 barring EDWARD G. ROBINSON APART from his work in motion picture studios, Edward G. Robinson is one of the intellectuals of the film world. He was born in Roumania, in Bucharest, but when he was a child his parents emigrated to New York, and eventually sent their son to college with a view to his being a minister. From theology he switched to law in which he is a graduate. But he was more interested in drama and began, with the Theatre Guild, to appear in a number of intellectual plays. Then in " The Rocket " he made such a hit as a gangster that he has been a gangster ever since.
