It is a joy, indeed, to find the first lady oj the London musical comedy stage recording a talking picture triumph in Hollywood. Evelyn Laye' was born in London, and made her first stage appearance at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, as Nang-Ping in " Mr. Wu," just over sixteen years ago. She has played in musical comedy and in light opera with triumphant success, all over Britain. Her first film appearance in a starring part was in the British picture, The Luck oj the Navy."
