Om Prakash, a booking clerk in a local cinema, who was entrusted with a sura of Rs. 4,961 on November 27, 1945, was accused of having misappropriated part of the money after depositing only Rs. 2,725 out of it in a bank. On being tried for the offence he was found guilty and sentenced to a year's rigorous imprisonment by the Special Magistrate, yesterday. Accused pleaded guilty. SABU FOR AN INDIAN FILM Hollywood, June. — Once more there is news that a picture is to be made in India. Kanpur. June 8. Half a dozen persons were injured, two of them seriously, as the result of a clash this evening between a batch of students and the staff of the local Nigar Talkies. The clash is reported to be a sequel to an altercation between the gate keeper of the cinema and some students who wanted to enter the hall "with concession tickets. The gate keeper questioned the students' identity. The situation was brought under control when the city Magistrate accompanied by the Police arrived at the scene. The police arrested the manager of the cinema and four other members of the staff for alleged rioting. CHAPLIN'S NEXT Hollywood, June 19. PAID WITH LIFE TO SEE SHOOTING Jamnagar, June 8. A crowd of about 75 men dropped into the waters of a lake from the roof of a boat shed which crashed under their weight. They were watching the outdoor shooting of a Gujarati picture. Two dead bodies were found next day on the shores of the lake while three persons are stiil missing and feared to have been drowned.
