Charles Rogers Ich bin ein Kind des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts und trat zuerst in Olathe, Kansas, in Erscheinung. Der Tradition folgend, besuchte ich hier die Schule und studierte drei Jahre lang an der Universität in Kansas. Als echtes Kind meines Jahrhunderts wußte ich mit mir nichts anderes anzufangen, als die Schauspielschule der Paramount zu besuchen. Nachdem ich einige grundlegende Kenntnisse in bezug auf Spieltechnik und Schminken erworben hatte, wirkte ich als Fünfzehnjähriger zuerst in einem Film „Fascinating Youth" mit. Die Paramount war mit der Leistung ihres Schülers in diesem Film so zufrieden, daß sie mir einen langen Kontrakt anbot und mich Hauptrollen in großen Filmen spielen ließ. Zuerst spielte ich in „Wings" und dann in „Get Your Man" und „The Hair", in den letzten beiden als Partner von Clara Bow. Eine besondere Auszeichnung für mich war es, daß Mary Pickford mich für eine Hauptrolle in ihrem letzten Film „My Best Girl" engagierte. Film und mein bisheriges Leben, d. h. soweit ich es bisher gelebt habe, sind eins, und ich hoffe, daß es auch immer so bleiben wird.
