LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING Gordon MacRoe, Charlie Ruggles, June Haver, Ray Bolger A gay, frothy musical highlighting the career of Marilyn Miller— an ever popular journey into a period of Broadway's past. Complementing the singing and dancing of the two stars, are musical hits from "Profiles of 1914," "The Big Show of 1915," "Sally," "Sunny," and others from the time immediately after the first World War. THE LONE RANGER Clayton Moore, Jay Sllverheels (Color) Lovely color, gorgeous scenery and an excellent plot make for an actionpacked film of the "daring arid rcsonrcclul masked rider of tlie plains," complete with horse, "Silver"; and Indian friend, "Tonlo" . Well-enacted, it deals with the villain attempting to rid the plain of the Indians because of silver deposited on their lands. The I^onc Hanger is sent to investigate, therefore action almost every minute! Warner Bros. 86 minutes LOVE THAT BRUTE Pawl Douglas, Jean Peters, Cesar Romero A sparkling comedy with a fast moving pace that will make the laughs overlap. The whimsical theme deals with a Chicago syndicate leader who has built a facade of rvithlessncss around his basically soft heart. Cang wars break open, but the leader hreaks with the underworld. 20th CenturyFox. 90 minutes THE LUCK OF THE IRISH Tyrone Power, Anne Baxter, Cecil Kelfaway, lee J. Cobb The whimsical story of a smooth-talking American newspaper man who meets his match in a lovely Irish colleen and an unpredictable leprechaun. LUCKY ME Doris Day, Robert Cummlngs, Phil Silvers (Color) Broadway's "top banana", Phil Silvers, makes his initial screen appearance in a gay, bouncing backstage musical comedy with great tunes, lavish sets and a top cast. Warner Bros. 100 minutes. LULLABY OF BROADWAY Doris Day, Gene Nelson (Technicolor, black and white) A bright lights musical as gay as the gay White Way. With a song, a dance, and a laugh for every light on Broadway, the cast turns the "street" into a happy lover's lane. Ten tunes— all toppers, and smash hit dancing numbers. LURE OF THE WILDERNESS Jean Peters, Jeffrey Hunter, Walter Brennan (Technicolor) In the heart of Georgia is. the kingdom of the crocodile and the cottonmouth— the danger-infested Okefcnokee swamplands— where men who venture past the warning marker disappear never to be seen again. In this treacherous swamp a young girl is forced to live with her fugitive father and is suddenly faced with the bewilderment of returning to civilization. How her father and the young man who loves her help bring her back to civilization provides the drama and suspense of the story. 20th CenturyFox. 92 minutes. The time is at the turn of the 19th Century, when Haiti was trying to throw off the shackles of the French Emperor, Napoleon. The incident is the rescue of an American woman living in the hinterland; there occurs the tortuous flight across the rugged Haitian country, Voodoo dancers, the burning of the city of Cap Francois, the success of the revolution. 20th Century-Fox. 89 minutes. MACAO Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, William Bendlx Mttchum is sent to this exotic, teeming Portuguese colony off the China coast to bring back a deadly criminal. Since Macao docs not have extradition treaties, he plans to get the killer outside its territorial limits. Suspcnseful, as well as entertaining! 88 minutes.
