Mr. Warner, I can, of course, appreciate the extreme difficulties confronting producers of pictures in undertaking to screen every employee engaged in the various activities of the picture industry; but what I am concerned with is to ascertain whether or not there is now any producer in America, or responsible studio head, who knowingly maintains undei his employment any person w^ho undertakes to inject into pictures un-American doctrines or ideologies which seek to weaken or destroy the form of government under which this Nation has grown to its place amongst the nations of the earth. As I said earlier — it is what I have read — certain writers have a membership in communistic parties.
