As witness the success of Her- bie Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, who are now world-renowned, there are millions of people the world over who love and hunger for Latin music. Many go all out and listen to the authentic Latin-speaking sta- tions in Los Angeles (KALI, KWKW and the Valley Latin Station KSFV- FM from where my program ema- nates) in order to hear the music from South of the Border. Unfortu- nately, these poor souls must plow through a countless number of Span- ish words in order to hear one song. This Situation has always distressed me. There are many of you reading this column who know exactly what I mean. The Latins love to talk and un- fortunately, many of us who love the music, do not understand the beau- tiful language. I have been known as pretty much of an authority and connoiseur of the music, and musicians and disc jock- eys did research among my own rec- ord collection. My dear friend, Ofe- lia Martiniz, who is herseif a disc jockey and the program director of KSFV-FM, broached me with the idea of a program of my own.
