A comedy set in the Southwest during World War II, the novel being published by Lippincott already is in its fourth printing although it will not hit the bookstores until the end of this month. Harper Lee, Pulitzer Prize winning author of “To Kill A Mockingbird,” describes “Red Sky At Morning” as “a minor marvel ... a work of art.” Virtually the entire picture will be filmed on location in the story’s natural locales. * * * PARKER FENNELLY RETURNS TO UNIVERSAL FOR "ANGEL" Parker Fennelly is returning to Uni¬ versal for the first time in more than 10 years for a featured role in “An Angel In My Pocket.” Actor has been signed by producer Edward J. Montagne for the key role of a church caretaker in the Andy Griffith comedy being directed by Alan Rafkin. Fennelly’s latest trip to Universal was to star with Marjorie Main in “The Kettles On Old MacDonald’s Farm” in 1957. ^ Fennelly is best remembered as Titus Moody on the late Fred Allen’s famed radio show. * * * Bob Stack found a gangland-style horseshore of flowers in his Universal dressingroom at the start of his “Name Of The Game” series - signed “from the guys who made you famous - A1 Capone, Frank Nitti, Dutch Schultz and Legs Diamond.” The culprits were, naturally, his “Untouchables” regulars - Abel Fer¬ nandez, Paul Picerni and Nick Georgiade. McGREEVEY, CARR YOUNG ROMANTIC LEADS IN "PATCH" Michael McGreevey and Darlene Carr have been signed by producer Richard E. Lyons to portray the young romantic leads in Universal’s “Patch,” starring Richard Widmark, Lena Horne and John Saxon. Picture marks the second associa¬ tion of Widmark and McGreevey, who also TTJTe together in “The Way West.” Robert Totten is directing the Techni¬ color picture. * * * BARRY SULLIVAN TO CO-STAR IN "WILLIE BOY" Barry Sullivan has been signed to co-star with Robert Redford, Katharine Ross, Robert Blake and Susan Clark in Universal’s unusual drama, “Willie Boy.” Abraham Polonsky is directing and Philip A. Waxman producing the Technicolor picture. Sullivan will portray a wealthy rancher who becomes one of the leaders in a widespread manhunt in the vivid story of a man who sought an identity in a world not yet ready to accept him. SHARON HARVEY SET FOR "WYLIE" Sharon Harvey, Universal contract actress, has been set by producers Ber¬ nard Schwartz and Phillip Hazelton for a featured role in Universal’s “Wylie,” star¬ ring Michael Sarrazin, Gayle Hunnicutt and Eleanor Parker. Young actress, who just completed a role in studio’s “Sweet Charity,” will portray Miss Hunnicutt’s co-worker in a beauty salon in “Wylie,” being directed by David Lowell Rich. PAINT CENTRAL PARK TO MATCH STUDIO VERSION FOR "SWEET CHARITY" New York - A Universal studio painter has been assigned by director Bob Fosse to paint a portion of Central Park so it will match a section of the park constructed on the studio back lot for scenes with Shirley MacLaine in “Sweet Charity” prior to the company coming here to film location sequenecs. Job entails graffiti written with spray paint on the rocks below the bridge near the Wellman skating rink. Long shots of the scenes, which Fosse is shooting here, naturally must match the scenes filmed previously at the studio. * * * UNIVERSAL SIGNS KINGSLEY-SMITH TO WRITER CONTRACT Terence Kingsley-Smith, 28-year-old discovery of producer Ross Hunter, has been signed to a long term writers con¬ tract by Universal and will launch his screen writing career on Hunter’s produc¬ tion of “The Jazz Babies.” The Korean War veteran and UCLA graduate convinced Hunter of his literary talents by submitting a story outline for “Jazz Babies.” Inger Stevens and George Peppard act sequence for Universal’s “House of Cards ” at Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain. 14
