AFI Publishes Six New Titles
Six new titles have been added to The American Film Institute’s Factfile, a continuing series of reference publications about film and television. Factfile was introduced last year by the AFI National Education Services in response to questions handled by the film information division of the education program.
New titles are: “Movie and TV Nostalgia,” “Film Music,” “Animation,” “Third World Cinema,” “Film/Television: A Research Guide,” and “Film/Television: Grants, Scholarships, Special Programs.” Each title represents a listing of publications, organization, events, training program, and sources of information or material on the specific topic.
The first six titles of the series to date -“Film and Television Periodicals in English,” “Careers in Film and Television,” “Student Film Festivals and Awards,” “Guide to Classroom Use of Film,” “Women and Film/Television,” and “Children and Film/Television” -will still be available, as well as the new titles.
According to Dr. Sam L. Grogg, Jr., Director of AFI National Education Services, the demand for basic information about film and television is increasing. ‘Probably a quarter million students take some kind of course in film or television each school semester. This, combined with the information needs of teachers, filmmakers, and the general public, makes the information division of National Education Services one of our most vital activities.”
Factfile is published in an 81/2 x 11” format and is updated periodically to include current information and statistics. New titles will be issued every six months.
Each Factfile title costs $2 for AFI Members, $3 for non-members and may be ordered from AFI National Education Services, Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. 20566. Payment must accompany orders. +

Likes “Great Western Heroes” issue Hollywood Studio Magazine Your recent issue headling the
B-Western films and actors is the best yet. I hope that sometime, in future issues, you will devote an issue to the serials. Possibly you could have an article on my favorite serial actor, Ralph Byrd.
