Ai teorizzatori parve di aver trovato nel cine- matografo il mezzo di volgarizzare i fatti e le scoperte della scienza, ed anche questa fu una illusione. Il mistero scientifico si fa palese allo studioso attraverso un lento processo d'analisi. Tradurre questa analisi in una breve sintesi si dimostrò ben presto impossibile. Si tentò di cinematografare i movimenti ame- boidi : ebbene sì. Si videro sullo schermo delle cose nebulose in un campo rotondo che move- vano lentamente, deformandosi. Il titolo spiegava, ma l'importante era il titolo, senza il quale, quello che si vede sarebbe assolutamente in- comprensibile. Si dovette perciò rimpinzare il film di fatti laterali, non estranei, ma non indispensabili alla rappresentazione del fatto scientifico puro. Così nel tentare di dimostrare sullo schermo lo svolgersi delle lune e semilune della malaria, si fotografò in film anche un gabinetto di bat-
