keeping the convolutions of the roll of film smooth in its travel from the free-running reel to the rewinding reel. Good reels should always be used in connection with the inspection and rewinding of film in exchanges. All devices used in the exchange in connection with inspection and handling of film should be engineered into the general setup.
In the past there has been a number of treatments for positive film tested. Some were found beneficial, others showed no improvement in the life of the film. Today it is definitely known that there are certain treatments for positive film that actually retards scratching, keeps the film pliable, retards oil absorption, and. in general, while not necessarily prolonged the life of the film by such a treatment, will keep the film in a new condition for a longer period of time.
It is this speaker's thought that it would not be amiss to appoint a committee of experts to make a thorough survey on the care and handling of film.
