Geib Geib Heads National Carbon Group The National Carbon Company, Inc., New ^ ork, announces establishment oJ a technical specialists" group in a mo\e to expand the company's technical service facilities applying to projector carbons and other lighting carbon products. C.W. Handley and P. 1). Ries have been selected to extend this type of work, carried on for many years by W. C. Kunzmann. The group's activities will be directed from the company's Cleveland office with E. R. Geib in charge. Mr. Handley \»i:I serve the Western portion of the country and Mr. Ries the East. Mr. Kunzmann will continue his nation-wide general activities as well as aid in this specific work in the central portion of the country. The technical service group, in general, will supplement the work of the lighting carbon salesmen of the National Carbon Company in matters of a technical nature pertaining to all lighting carbon applications. Among its functions will be discussions with projectionists and distributors on the scientific aspects, best utilization and unusual applications of the carbon arc for projection in all kinds of existing and new equipment. The group also will work with motion picture studio technicians on studio lighting problems and with the photo-engraving, lithographic and blueprint trades. Assistance will be rendered with company's research and development activities in cooperating with manufacturers ■of carbon arc equipment. SIMONS NAMED AD MANAGER OF ALTEC SERVICE H. M. Bessey, vice president of Altec Service Corporation, announces that Walter W. Simons has been named advertising and publicity manager of the organization. In this capacity Mr. Simons also will handle trade paper advertising and publilcity for Altec Lansing Corporation. With Altec since its formation he was assigned in 1942 to the electronic division at Lexington, Mass., where he remained until the completion of the project early this Spring. At that time he returned to New York and has been associated with the commercial engineering group until now. SPEAKERS TO HAVE KELLOGG RETRACTIVE CORDS Retractive extension cords developed by the Koiled Kord division of the Kellogg Switchboard and Supply Co. will be embodied in the improved inter-car speaker units for drive-in theatres soon to be offered by the Radio Corporation of America.
