(See Fig. 1.) The high percentage of radio listeners in relation to those who go to motion pictures is chiefly because the former offers free entertainment. In the field of paid entertainment the closest competition is the sport show which attracts 4 per cent as compared with the 7 per cent attracted by the motion picture. TREND IN SOCIAL HABITS AS RELATED TO THE MOTION PICTURE THEATER The most recent indication of the impact which television is having on social habits is contained in a survey conducted by the Duane Jones Company among television-set owners in the metropolitan area of New York. A questionnaire was mailed out in mid-November to 4500 television-set owners, and the results are based on a 35 per cent response.
