Since these secondary electrons usually have a lower velocity, some work has been done toward the preparation of special tubes having metal-backed screens which are relatively opaque to these slow-speed electrons and relatively transparent to the completely accelerated electrons producing the desired image. Such metalized tubes completely eliminate the cathode glow.
