Born 1875. Early in his career was a solo pianist at a kinema. In 191 3 opened a picture house of his own at Shettleston, and later purchased another at Hawick, both of which he disposed of. Is an ex-President of C.E.A. Scottish Branch and on the Benevolent Fund Committee. Until recently proprietor of Tollcross Cinema, now manager the Regent, Edinburgh. An active member of the export side of the Industry, F. Alfred was born in London in 1881, being educated at Tollington Park College. Entered the film business in 1914. He is actively engaged in importing the best Continental productions selected for the British market, and is also arranging for films to be produced on the Continent by English and Continental producers. Reginald Atherton.
^Managing Director, Cinema Traders, Ltd.] Born in 1877. Reginald Atherton was originally a photographer, but first interested himself in kinematography in 1903, toured India and the East, paying several visits covering a number of years. Became interested in several picture theatres in .London and the Provinces, and finally started in business as a supplier of machines and accessories in 1912. Formed the present Company. of Cinema Traders, Ltd., in 191 3, and incorporated the well-known firm of John Wrench & Son, established over 100 years, in 1921. Has invented and patented numerous types of machines and accessories, including the " Howarth " Portable Projector and Automatic Advertisers, and the now wellknown Focuslite Lighting Outfits. Francis William Baker.

Michael Balcon.
Born 1896. Educated at King Edward's College, Birmingham. An active leader in the British Film Production World. Formerly on the Management Staff of the Dunlop Rubber Company, Limited, afterwards coming into films as a Director of Victory Motion Pictures, Limited, now W. & F. Film Service (Midlands), Limited. Later became associated with J. H. Graham Cutts in Gainsborough Pictures, Limited, commencing a series of successful productions with " Woman to Woman." George Herbert Barber.

One of the oldest exhibitors in the country; G. H. Barber was born at Congleton, in i860, and has been-connected with the kinematograph business fromits earliest days. Before the passing of the Kinematograph Act he ran a travelling motion picture show, and did his own operating. He built the first kinematograph hall in Tunstall, erecting and opening a total of eight kinemas in four years. He has been a member of the General Council and of the North Staffordshire Brancrrof the C.E .A. for five years, and also sits on the National Industrial Conciliation Committee. A member of the Stoke-on-Trent Town Council since the Federation of the Potteries in 1910. He is also chairman of Guardian Relief Committee, Chairman of the Old Age Pension Committee, Member on City Water Board Committee for the Borough of Stoke-on-Trent. James William Barber, Captain, C.B.E.
James William Barber was born in 1884, and was educated at the secondary school and University College, Cardiff. He afterward 1 received training in marine and electrica engineering, and was for many years connected with the technical side of the Trade. In 1917 he was retained as technical adviser on kinematograph matters to the Department of Information, and was afterwards appointed to Director of Kinematography to the National War Aims Committee, Downing Street. He was also responsible for the touring kinema propaganda work carried out by the Government departments throughout the country. He is a consulting engineer, is proprietor of the Castle Cinema Homerton ; managing director of the Church Pictorial Movement, Ltd. ; honorary technical adviser to the C.E.A., member of the General Council of the C.E.A., and past chairman of the London branch. Born in 1888. Mr. Bassi! has served 15 years in trade, including three years in the old London Film Co. Prince Bendon.
[Proprietor, Bendon Trading Co.] Few people in the. Trade are better known in Scotland than Prince Bendon, who can claim with justice to be one of the pioneers of the Industry, both on the exhibiting and renting sides. In addition to being the proprietor of the Bendon Trading Co., he founded and is now hon. president of the Glasgow Cinema Club and expresident of the Royal Clyde Motor Yacht Club.
