COMPAXY was formed as M.E. Productions, Ltd. (a private Company), and the name was later changed to British International Pictures, Ltd., and made public.
Owns entire capital of Associated British Cinemas, Ltd., British Instructional Films, Ltd., which owns the Welwyn Studios ; Pathe Pictures, Ltd., which specialises in production of short films, news-reels, etc., and distributes an output of American and British films, and film production studios at Elstree. Owns all Ord., 230,000 Pref., and £70,000 Deb. Stock of Elephant and Castle Theatre, Ltd., and controls Associated British Properties, Ltd., and Associated Cinema Properties, Ltd.
In 1934, the majority of kinema properties and investments held by Associated British Cinemas, Ltd., and other wholly-owned Sub. Cinemas Cos., were transferred to Corporation.
Corporation has agreed to lease all kinema properties of Associated British Properties, Ltd., until December 1, 1971, at a rental equal to 6 per.
