By far the largest number of films shown were U.S., with Mexico in the second place. Film censorship in Peru comes under the Censorship Board, on which the Peruvian Accion Catolica is represented. Films are classified as follows : (1) films unsuitable for children ; (2) films suitable for children under 15 as well as over ; (3) films for adults only and (4) films unsuitable for "unmarried young women." Customs : There is an import duty of 12 soles per kilogram of film, plus 20 per cent according to special regulation No. 9467 ; 1 per cent for the encouragement of art ; 2 per cent ad valorem tax computable on a minimum value of 30 soles per kilo, with 20 per cent surcharge ; 1 per cent ad valorem tax, allocated to a fund for the unemployed, with an additional charge on the weight of the container ; 4 soles per metric ton. Quota : There is no restrictive or protective legislation. Production : Only two major films were produced during 1947.
