GERMANY CONDITIONS in the three Western zones of Germany have greatly changed during the sixteen months since the currency reform of the summer, 1948, and the gradual stabilisation of the West-German Federal Republic, with its Government in Bonn. Last summer a central Board of Filmcensors (so-called Self-Control) was established to which film censorship has been handed over by the occupation powers. Although regional exhibitors', renters' and producers' associations are carrying on in the three Western zones, as well as in the three Western sectors of Berlin, the " ADF " has been formed as a joint committee representing the industry as a whole. Towards the end of 1949 legislation in respect of films, including importation, was also handed back to the new German administration : it is, however, expected that any form of quota restrictions would not find endorsement by the Allied High Commissioners.
