Artistically produced with outstanding caméra work. Cast : Robert Lynen ( Poil de Carotte), Jean Mercanton, Charpin, Arletty, Robert Le Vigan and a charming débutante : Janine Darcy. L’Etrange Monsieur Victor (produced in Berlin). — Jean Grémillon directed in the Ufa Studios (Berlin) and on location at Toulon (South of France) this interesting melodrama whi'ch is remarkably played by Raimu as Monsieur Victor. Cast also includes Pierre Blanchar, Viviane Romance and Madeleine Renaud. Adrienne Lec+uiyeur (produced in Berlin).— An ambitious and elaborate film dealing with the life of Adrienne Lecouvreur, a famous French actress of the Eighieenth Century. The well known French starteam Yvonne Printemps and Pierre Fresnay are seen in this film directed by Marcel L’Herbier. S.O.S. Sahara (produced in Berlin). — An action melodrama located in the Fren'ch Sahara with an interesting documentary side. Cast : Charles Vanel, Jean-Pierre Aumont and Martha Labarr. Cast includes Raymond Rouleau, Louis Jouvet and a new talent : Lina Labourdette. Ernest le Rebelle. — A comedy-thriller with action somewhere in Central America, from a novel by Jacques Perret. La Femme du Boulanger (The Baker’ s Wife). — Another tvpical film by Marcel Pagnol (of César, Angèle, Regain, Le Schponntz), produced on location in a small village in the Soulh of France. Cast includes the famous French actor Raimu, as the baker, and Ginette Leclerc as the wife who leaves him. J’étais une Aventurière (I was an Adventuress). — An action comedy directed by Raymond Bernard co-starring Edwige Feuillère and Jean Murat. Le Joueur d’ Echecs ( The Chess-player). An ambitious film based on an historical subjeet with a'ction in 18th Century in Poland. This film directed by Jean Dréville includes elaborate and lavish scenery and a first class cast with Conrad Veidt, Françoise Rosay, Micheline Francey and Paul Cambo (was produced as a silent film by Raymond Bernard eleven years ago). Katia. — Danielle Darrieux’s first French film since her return from Hollywood. This ambitious production, directed by Maurice Tourneur, which is planned to be as important as Mayerling, deals with a love story between the Tzar Alexander the first and a young Russian girl. The British actor John Loder co-stars with Danielle Darrieux. La Maison du Maltais (The Maltese House). — This film, with a’ction set in Tunis, is based on a novel by Jean Vignaud, and directed by Pierre Chenal (of Alibi and Lafarge Case). R includes an outstanding cast with Viviane Romance, Janv Holt, l ouis Jouvet, Pierre Renoir, and Dalio. Altitude 3,200 (Altitude). Jean BenoitLévy and Marie Epstein, who co-directed La Maternelle and Hélène, liave again produced a film on youth, with action in a refuge in the snows, 9,600 feet up in the Alps. The cast includes Jean-Louis Barrault, Blanehette Brunoy, Jacqueline Porel, Odette Joyeux, Fabien Lorys.
