La famille du facteur par George Grosz chez nous, je ne le trouve jamais dans les films. Et chacun rêve ensuite d être demain un Menjou ou tel acteur à la mode à Hollywood. J'imagine pourtant les beaux films que l'on pourrait tourner ici. Ne pourraiton jamais montrer à l'écran quelque chose de cette Allemagne souterraine, secrètement agitée? Toujours, lorsque j'assiste à l'étranger, à la présentation d'un film allemand, je n'y vois que le monde du théâtre. Je n y rencontre jamais cet homme trapu, solide, au col cassé, à la serviette et aux lunettes d'écaillé qui fait partie à l'occasion d'un club littéraire, aime la musique, et demeure en toute occasion un bon bourgeois. Qui pourrait dire que notre société ressemble à celle de l'écran? 16
