Efficiency Is Keynote of Rothacker Studios THE last word in modern studio facilities is exemplified in ■I the Rothacker Film Manufacturing Company plant, successor to the Industrial Moving Picture Company, 1339-1351 Diversey Parkway, Chicago. The whole system is designed to make efficient various studio lighting operations and to yield the maximum of flexibility from the equipment installed. The studio is 125 by 52 feet, with about 25 feet clear height. Six sets may be in use at one time. The studio floor is constructed of heavy wood on a steel and concrete foundation, thereby eliminating the least danger of vibration. Perfect illumination and flexibility of light effect is arranged for " top " and "side" lights, to make it possible to practically mould the illumination into the set. "THE whole lighting equipment is moved by traveling electric A cranes running along the entire length of the studio, so that while action in constructed sets is being photographed, rehearsals can be held in other completed sets and still more sets be under construction simultaneously. Control of all lights, both floor and overhead, is centered in a hanging panel at the front of the set. Thirty-two momentary contact push button switches are arranged in this panel so as to form a diagram of the entire lighting equipment. COMPLETE control of all lights, always located at the front of the set being photographed, manipulated by push buttons ; safe moving of the whole lighting equipment from set to set, except floor stands, by one simple operation ; instant accessibility of electric current for all floor lights, the floor entirely cleared of cables, which under other conditions are a constant danger to the players and the maximum efficiency in the handling of the electrical equipment, are some of the very desirable features of this ideal studio. THE dressing rooms are spacious and sanitary and completely furnished. The carpenter shop is fully equipped and designed to turn out work at low cost in time and with efficiency. The Rothacker studio is in the market to produce motion pictures for independent companies, renting under contract.
