Kipling's ''The Light That Failed" ( Paramount) — a tale of an artist who is stricken with blindness just as be is completing his masterpiece, is as oldfashioned as it is depressive — and aside from Percy Marmont's sympathetic study of the painter and Jacqueline Logan's brunette appeal, it fails in winning recognition to be placed in the exclusive gallery.
