Grant, has just been published. The name refers to the title often given to J. Warren Kerrigan. Lois Weber and Phillips Smalley, of the Rex Company, at the Hollywood Universal studios, have just completed the production of a splitreel comedy entitled, "Waterloo Peterson. Cameraman." Interesting scenes on a busy day in and around the studios are shown. Robert Leonard of the Rex Company, has returned to the Hollywood studios, after spending a week on the summit of Mt. Lowe, producing "The Fox." a story of the Canadian iNortiivvest mounted police. "The Triumph of An Emperor" — "In Hoc Signo Vinces" — a five-reel Savoia production, wliich is being marketed through the World Film Corporation, is to be played in Denver in a "kgitimate" theatre, put on with a chorus and svniphony orchestra. ^ ' Clarence A. Taylor, the "Broncho Hiker,' who started from New York, September 19, 1!)I3. to walk to the Broncho Motion Picture Studio at Santa Monica. Cal., arrived there March 22, 1914, taking him three days over six months to do it. In that time he covered .') 650 miles. He passed through eighteen states and traversed sixty-five miles of warridden Mexico. The Gene Gauntier Feature Players have secured the Old St. Ambrose Church in New York as a studio. Father Moran arranged with Miss Gauntier and Jack T. Clark for a benefit performance. They also en'ertained the Mother Superior and a number of Sisters, none of whom had witnessed a picture before. Frank Crane, director of Imp features, has begun the production of a three reel drama entit'ed. ''On the Chess Board of Fate," written bv W. Hanson Ourliam. "The Hills of S lence" is the title of the newest Universal Bison production of Wilfred Lucas, in whose company Cleo Madison is featured. .^Mlan Dwan, director for the Universal studios, recently employed two specialists in mental telepathy to review his latest production entitled. "The Forbidden Room." A psychological drama entitled. "The Hangman's Noose," written by Lois Weber, has just been completed by the Rex company. Phillips Smalley, Lois W'eber, Rupert Julian and Edna Hall are the principals. Anita Loos, of San Diego, Cal., is the author of "The Fatal Dress Suit." "Nearly a Burglar's iBride," and many other Mutual farce comedies. Miss Loos was "discovered" by D. W. Griffith, of the Mutual company. Through B. F. Porter, the Brooklyn House, in Coney Island, New York, has replaced its equipmeiit with three Simplex projectors. Shea's Theatre, Buffalo, has become a picture house and has installed two Simplex projectors. Augustus Phillips, of the Edison Company, while driving his car down Sixth Avenue, saw a traffic Goliath hold up his mighty hand for him to stop. Phillips jammed on his brakes, but skidded past the arm of the law because of the slippery pavement, and was haled to court. Despite his graphic description of the cause of his crime, Phillips was persuaded to part with a five-spot by the Magistrate, who in caustic tones recommended tire chains. Phillips says he won't buy chains now if his car does the tango all over Fifth Avenue. Harry Pollard and Frank Cooley and eight other members of the American studios, have joined the new gymnasium at S.anta Barbara. Too much avoidupois? maum
