Some of the best business men of the town are interested in the new motion p cture house, which is offering some of the better class comedy-dramatic productions. SchPnker & Mays, C. C. White and T. B. D'xon are among the promoters of the White Theatre. The Dixie Theatre, Russellville, Ky., opened recently. A building was erected especially for ih s theatre, which is declared to be one of the most beautiful in the smaller cities of the state. A. Mitchell is manager of the Dixie. Covington motion picture men are said to be behind a proposition to open a new movie house at Mt. Olivet, Ky. W. C. Collins has disposed of his interest 'n the Lyric Theatre, Lawrenceburg, Ky,, to Mrs. Hardie B. Ripy, who will continue the enterprise. The stockholders of the People's .-\musement Co., Owensboro, Ky., have voted to dissolve the corporation and liquidate its assets. The Masonic Temple Theatre, Elizabethtown, Ky., is now using the Warner film service exclusively. Every program will include a three-reel feature, it is announced. Thomas Schmidt, formerly with the Blankenbaker Vaudeville Circuit, has been engaged hv the Richland Theatre, Carrollton, Ky., "to sing one of New York's latest song hits every evening." "Four reels of movies and a song, five cents," is the way the Richland is now advertising its attractions. George Wright, manager of the Clinton Square Theatre, at Albany, N. Y., struck a popular vein in that city last week by showing the Universal drama, "Swede Larson." The people went wild over the drama and Bobby Leonard, who took the leading part. Bobby has always been popular iu that city, but if he is shown there in a few more dramas such as "Swede Larson" he will be the idol of the movie lovers. Charles Holly has just opened the Pastime Theatre, at Biloxi, Miss., an outdoor attraction, which he will operate during the summer months. Perkins and Adams have awarded the contract to E. L. Mitchell for the construction of a $12,000 theatre at Ruston, La. The plans call for three store buildings fronting on X'ienna street and one on Mississippi avenue. The entrance to the theatre will open from \'ienna street, leading through an arcade into the auditorium. The building is to be completed September 15, when it will be opened as a moving picture house. While the policy for the winter seison has not been announced it is stated that there w!ll be other attractions booked from time to time. The St. Louis Times Mnv'e Review, a local events film issued by the "Times," an evening paper, is proving very popular, and is now running in thirty different theatres throughout the citv.
