June 30 , 1928 2207 Unique St. Louis House Operates in Union Station for Benefit of Travelers With Time to Wait Between Trains PKKMIAl'S the most umisu;il motion picture theatre in the world is operated in the St. Louis Union Station for the henefit of travelers passing through the St. Louis gateway to the West, Southwest and Northwest. Every day persons from all quarters of the globe sit for iin hour or two watching current motion pictures while waiting for train connections. On one side of the small theatre which occupies ;i part of the second floor of the big union station is a huge clock that can be seen conveniently from any part of the house. Trains are never missed by patrons of the house as the management sees that each person attending the show is informed of the exact moment his or her train will pull out. Billy Miller established the theatre on .March 10, 1922, and in the six years the house has been opened it has played to almost a half million patrons. The theatre has gained an international reputation and many patrons are of the repeater type. Persons who often pass through the St. Louis gateway always attend the movie shows between trains. Miller has also found that travelers from California, Florida, Maine, Mexico and Canada have asked for the theatre on their arrival at the station, having been told of the picture show by others who enjoyed it. About half of the audiences are men, but it is the mother with a brood of restless children that has found the theatre the greatest boon. A lively comedy of a Western thriller is just the prescription to keep the kiddies quiet between trains. Some mothers have even checked children in the theatre while doing a bit of shopping in St. Louis.
