We have watched the successes of others, and have done a little better in our own way, and taken a warning of failures and eliminated mistakes. The pervading element of Shadowland will be the subject of motion pictures, and, being published by The Motion Picture Pub. Company, the national reputation of this company’s publications will warrant its experience in pleasing the great public. In all its features it will follow the shortest and most direct line of truth and cheerfulness, and in Sh^vdowland will always show the brightest spot and bid good-by to pessimism. Motion Picture, the greatest educator. Enjoy it at the theater and then give it a place in your home thru the medium of the newest and best magazine devoted to this foremost form of entertainment. It will be printed on heavy coated paper, with high-class illustrations on all its pages. A special and exclusive mark of distinction will be correct reproductions in the true colors of the originals from great modern and ancient paintings; and of these there will be several in each number. In the department of art, comment and criticism will be given by “The Painter,” a wellknovm artist of national I'enown. The last word in Amateur photography, beautifully illustrated, and directed by a famous expert, forms an unusual attraction in Shadowland. And in connection with this will also be an appealing invitation for competitive prizes in photography. The drama and all new and current plays will be discussed brilliantly by a widely known critic. We will be able to speak with great authority on the subject of coming styles, for all the fore rS?iii«vltr8<it?8sih8vit?»(lt?sv1 most creators of fashions, both here and abroad, have agreed to let us have advance information regarding their new models. And, better still, we will be in a position to feature beautiful pictures of the leading screen stars displaying the new gowns. We have discovered the wisest man on earth and call him “The Sage.” This human embodiment of all wisdom will give his great experience and pass-key to every puzzle that confounded mankind. On his special page will this venerable gentleman give advice and kindly counsel in matters beyond ordinary mortal comprehension. For the bright side of life, which we intend to sparkle joyfully from every page of Shadowland, our famous “Dr. Sunbeam” comes out shining and strong with antidote for gloom and worry and cure for all ills, without the use of medicine or surgery. Among many special articles by well-known authors most conspicuously ranks the powerful essay on the question of the hour, “The Age of Propaganda,” by Hudson Maxim, the famous inventor and writer on international subjects of medieval and modern civilization and warfare. America’s greatest living poet, Edwin Markham, has been deeply imfu’essed and inspired to find words of expression in a poem, immortalizing in verse the wonderful past and future of the motion picture. In all, Shadowland forms a perfect unit of intelligent entertainment for young and old, with good will to everybody.
