Cleveland in SummerSlump Grosses Poor Cleveland, July 30. — Alternatingexcessive heat and rain during the day with a city pageant at night resulted in lowest grosses of the summer. "Front Page Woman" with a popular stage show at the RKO Palace just topped the average of $15,000 by $100. "The Raven" at the Allen made the best percentage showing, going to $4,750 as against a $3,000 average. "Shanghai" made a good hot weather showing with $8,900, just under the $10,000 average. "Paris in Spring" came within $400 of the Stillman average with $3,600 gross and "Love Me Forever," big in its first week at the Warner Hippodrome, couldn't hold to its high standard a second week. The Newman, showing "Men Without Names," took an average gross of $7,000. "She" at the Mainstreet disappointed, with $7,000, below par by $1,000. "Murder in the Fleet" at the Midland made a poor showing, $6,900 against par of $11,500; while "Black Sheep" at the Eox Uptown did only $2,100 in five days against an average of $3,000, and was pulled.
