Weinberger, general sales manager of General Pictures, yesterday sold a five-year franchise for the Greater Xew York territory to Melvin Hirsch, who operates Syndicate Exchanges, but will handle this product independently of his other interests. Although a number of franchises will be sold, General yesterday maintained its plan to establish a number of its own exchanges will go through. Fenn Kimball, president of the company, who figured in on the deal, left for Chicago yesterday. From there, he will proceed to Hollywood. Meehan In Hospital M. J. Meehan, broker, and majority preferred stockholder in KeithAlbee-Orpheum, was reported yesterday confined to a hospital in White Plains. The reports said that Meehan suffered a nervous breakdown following the filing of charges of market rigging, which were brought against him last spring by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
