Einfeld Back Jan. 15
S. Charles Einfeld, Warner advertising and publicity director, is due back at the home office January 15 after an extended stay on the coast. While his future schedule is uncertain, he will probably spend more time on the coast than has been his custom in the past.
New Yorkers Leave For N. O. Premiere
The New York delegation to the Paramount two-day sales meeting in New Orleans left here yesterday afternoon and will arrive there this evening. The sales session at the Roosevelt, which will be attended by district managers from the field, will be held tomorrow and Saturday. In conjunction with it will be the opening of "The Buccaneer" at the Saenger tomorrow night, for which William Pine, from the coast, and Robert M. Gillham, director of advertising and publicity, from the home office, have been making arrangements.
The executives who are en route from here include : Neil Agnew, vicepresident in charge of distribution; J. J. Unger, Charles M. Reagan, G. B. J. Frawley, Alec Moss and Don Velde. The party will leave for New York on Saturday. Five trade paper representatives accompanied the delegates.
Following the opening of "The Buccaneer" here, Cecil B. DeMille, producer, will attend one-night previews in Atlanta, Jan. 12; Washington, Jan. 13; New York, Jan. 17; Boston,
Paramount Claims New "Fargo" Mark
"Wells Fargo," now in its second week at the Paramount, is set for a third week. In its first seven days, ending Tuesday night, the picture, coupled with Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians, set a new record with an attendance of 159,000 persons, according to the theatre.
The show drew $9,000 more than any since the start of the Paramount's combination policy two years ago, it was announced.
Another likely third week holdover is "Submarine D-l" at the Strand, where it began a second week yesterday.
Jan. 18; Chicago, Jan. 19, and Kansas City, Jan. 20, after which he will return to the coast.
Evelyn Keyes Cancels
Hollywood, Jan. 5.— Evelyn Keyes, featured in "The Buccaneer," has been forced to cancel her planned personal appearance at the New Orleans premiere of the film. The actress is ill with diphtheria.
