Nathanson, president of Famous Players Canadian Corp., will be called before the select committee of the Canadian House of Commons which is to investigate the activities of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. in connection with the proposal to raise the annual license fee for receiving sets from $2 to $2.50. Nathanson will be examined as a governor of the corporation, along with other members of the directorate, before the committee, of which Arthur L. Beaubien of Manitoba is chairman, examines General Manager Gladstone Murray and other officials. The investigation is scheduled to open toward the close of March and it is understood that the fee increase will not go into effect in April, as originally intended, pending the outcome of the study. One of the questions to be asked at the inquiry concerns the amounts paid to the big networks in the United States for commercially sponsored radio programs now released over the Canadian chain of stations. Nathanson was appointed to the board of governors of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. in 1936 when the original Canadian Radio Commission was superseded by the corporation.
