The program was moved to the Blue Mouse. Second was "Shopworn Angel" and "Fast Company" at the Paramount, with $7,250, better than par by $1,250. The bill was continued. Joe Brown Now a Singer Hollywood, July 17. — Joe E. Brown will render "On to Victory," a football song, in "The Gladiator," now nearing completion at Columbia. The picture's release will coincide with the fall gridiron season. "Birth" Hits $10,500; Big Denver Take Denver, July 17.— "Birth of a Baby" turned out to be the star attraction of the week. It grossed $10,500 at the Denham. This was nearly twice the normal take of the house. The only other attraction to go over par was "Always Goodbye" at the Aladdin where the $4,000 take was $500 to the good. Total first run business was $37,250. Average is $32,750. (Average, $7,000) Officials Present As "Texans" Opens San Antonio, July 17. — The world premiere of "The Texans" was held at the Majestic Theatre here Friday night. Government officials, newspapermen, representatives of patriotic organizations, players and others connected with the film business were in attendance. Among those attending were Gov. James V. Allred, of Texas ; Secretary of State Edward Clark; Lieutenant Governor Walter Woodall ; George Clarke, Unemployment Commissioner. The film industry was represented by Arthur Cole and Senn Lawler, Kansas City ; L. C. Griffith, Oklahoma City ; Robert J. O'Donnell, James O. Cherry, Hugh Braly and Frank Starz, Dallas ; Al Lever, Houston, and M. K. Moore of Fort Worth. Various newspapermen from surrounding cities attended. Hollywood was represented by Randolph Scott, Raymond Hatton, Glenda Farrell, Robert Cummings and Lucien Hubbard. Grants Dismissal Plea Supreme Court Justice Timothy A. Leary has granted the application of Lott Theatres Corp. and Sam H. Grisman to dismiss the suit of Typhoon Air Conditioning Co., Inc., with leave to Typhoon to amend its complaint within 10 days. Arthur Warde Dead Arthur F. Warde, 66, veteran theatrical manager who directed road companies of "The Birth of a Nation" and "Intolerance," died late last week and was buried over the week-end.
