New Budget Policy On Paramount Lot Hollywood, July 8.— As part of Paramount's newly-created overall policy to shorten shooting schedules and reduce budgets on all future productions, the studio has announced inauguration of a new system whereby a directorial consultant will aid and advise in the actual mechanics of filming. Schwalb Will Make 'Aladdin' for Allied Ben Schwalb has been assigned by Steve Broidy, president of Allied Artists-Monogram Pictures, to produce "Aladdin and His Lamp," based on the Arabian Nights tale, to be filmed in Cinecolor. Walter Wanger prior to launching his new Allied Artists production program calling for a minimum of three pictures a year, has volunteered his technical advice on filming the fantasy. Wanger produced 'Arabian Nights" for Universal International which started that stu dio's cycle of color spectacles. Patricia Medina has been signed for the fern inine lead in 'Aladdin," opposite Johnny Sands who has been loaned by Wanger to the studio. Lew Landers will direct, it was an nounced at the weekend.
